Govt to continue promoting research in power sector: Nasrul

Dhaka: State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid has urged researchers to make more contribution for the country’s power and energy sector.
He said the government will continue to support research works in power sector as it wants to promote local innovations in the sector, reports the UNB.
The state minister made the remarks while addressing a seminar on ‘An Overview of EPRC Funded Applied Research Projects’ organised by Energy and Power Research Council (EPRC) at Biduyt Bhaban in the chair.
He said new innovations will be coming up with the growing up of new entrepreneurship in the country.
Underscoring the need for more research in the power and energy sector, he said it would have yield better result if students are involved in school level in the research works.
In the function, two innovative ideas-’Integrated Concept for Converting Solid waste to Energy (InConSolE)-Waste to Bi-coal for Power Generation’ and ‘Future Grid: Demand Response Enabled Future Smart Grid to Maximize Intermittent RE Penetration and Reduce Electricity Loss and Theft’-were accepted by EPRC for financing.
The function was also addressed by Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and EPRC chairman Shahin Ahmed Chowdhury.
