Victim’s parents not happy with verdicts
Kushtia: The parents of then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina’s security staff Mahbub Rashid, who was killed in the August 21 grenade attack, expressed their dissatisfaction at the verdicts in the cases over the attack as all the accused were not awarded death sentence.
Chief Lance Corporal (retd) Mahbubur Rashid, hailing from Khoksa in Kushtia district, died while trying to save Hasina during the attack, reports the UNB.
Mahbub’s mother Hasina Khatun and his ailing father Harun-or-Rashid were sitting in front of a television set since morning to watch the verdict news.
‘After 14 years and 48 days, the verdict has been delivered. But we aren’t fully satisfied as we had expected that all the accused would get death sentence,’ said Hasina Khatun.
They will file appeal seeking death sentence for all the convicts.
‘When the convicted people will be executed, their parents will be able to feel our pains,’ said Mahbub’s mother Hasina.
They want to die seeing the execution of the killers.
They also thanked the Almighty as the verdict has been delivered finally.
