Cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ weakens gradually

Dhaka: The severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ with a core of hurricane wind moved to North-Northwestwards and crossed Odisha-Andhra coast of India near Gopalpur on Thursday morning and being weaken gradually.

Under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm, steep pressure, gradient persists over North Bay and deep convection is taking place over North Bay and coastal areas of Bangladesh, reports the UNB.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, said a met office bulletin on Thursday.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower local cautionary signal No 4 to signal No 3.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

Besides, the government has cancelled the leave of all government officials and staffs in 19 coastal area of the country following the cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya came up with the directives while talking to reporters at his office.

The Minister also said that all to were taken to tackle the cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.

He also said a directive has been given to open control rooms in all the upazila and district headquarters to operate round the clock to monitor the situation.
