Dhaka: There is no possibility of deterioration in law and order situation in the country ahead of the next parliamentary election, said Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Thursday.

The Industries Minister said this while talking to reporters after a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order at the Secretariat, reports the UNB.

‘The law and order situation in the country is satisfactory and the political situation is also stable as all the political parties are focusing on the election,’ he said.

While reacting to a query on BNP’s allegation about filling ‘ghost cases’ against the party men, the minister said, ‘BNP’s allegation isn’t true. They are telling lies. Action will be taken if there is any specific information.’

Talking about the militancy issue, the Minister said, ‘Militancy is under control now but the law enforcing agencies are aware of it and there is no threat of militant attack.’

Referring to the anti-drug drive, Amu said the use of the drug has been reduced following the drive against drug and the law enforcing agencies have been asked to be more cautious about it.

According to the sources of the meeting, the members of law enforcement agencies were asked to maintain law and order situation ahead of the election.
