Rajshahi: A tribunal here has convicted nine people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2014.

The convicts are Ariful Islam, Rabiul Islam, Sabuj Ahmed, Ahsan Habib, Almas Khan, Ayub Ali, Mukul Hossain, Rubel Hossain and Rabbani of Soair Balal village in Singra upazila of Natore district, reports the UNB.

According to the prosecution, Abu Bakar Siddique, of Soair Balal village in Singra upazila in Natore district was stabbed to death in March 2014 by the convicts over previous enmity.

Police later submitted a charge-sheet against 26 people.

After examining records and witnesses, Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Anup Kumar handed down the verdict while acquitted 17 others as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
