‘Drug trader’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’
Cox's Bazar: A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf road at Damdamia Check-post in Teknaf upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Lalu, reports the UNB.
Tipped off that two groups of drug traders were engaged in a gunfight over sharing their money, a team of police conducted a drive in the area at the dead of night, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on the police, forcing them to fire back in self-defence, he said.
At one stage, police recovered the body of Lal Mia and recovered two guns, two bullets and 6,000 pieces of Yaba pill from the spot.
