Satkhira: A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband as she protested his extramarital relationship with a neighbour at Saraskati village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on early Monday, reports UNB.

Locals said the man named Jamal developed an extramarital relation with a neighbour.

Jamal’s wife Ferdousi Mira, 22, had earlier warned him to end the relationship.

An altercation took place between the couple at their house on Sunday night.

At one point, Jamal beat Mira mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, he hanged the body with a tree to make it appear like she committed suicide.

Informed by local people, police recovered the body and sent it to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also arrested Jamal from his house on Monday morning.

Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the body bore several injury marks.

He also said it would be clear whether it was murder or suicide after they get the autopsy report.
