Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday urged all concerned to keep environmental issues in mind while setting up industries.

‘You must look into the matter while setting up industries so that there can be no pollution,’ she said, reports the UNB.

The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating Savar Leather Industrial City, Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredients (API) industrial city at Gojaria in Munshiganj and Sirajganj BSCIC through a videoconference from her office.

Sheikh Hasina said the government has taken steps to set up waste management system wherever there is industrialisation and hoped that everyone will follow that in the future.

The Prime Minister said the country’s economy is mainly dependent on agriculture and noted that industrialisation can also help the country to move forward along with the agriculture.

Taking long- and short-term projects, she said the government is now implementing those and the people of the country are getting the positive results from that. ‘We’ve to move forward and build the country as a developed one.’

The Prime Minister said the government is setting up 100 economic zones across the country as it has given a special attention to creating more and more job opportunities.

Hasina said the government has encouraged the private sector to come up with their investment. ‘We’ve also taken a number of steps to attract foreign and local investments in the country,’ she added.
