Bangladesh for increased investment, trade ties with Poland
Dhaka: Bangladesh has laid emphasis on increasing trade and investment with Poland exploring potential areas jointly as Polish investors are interested to invest in food, agro processing industries and coal industries in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh also requested the Polish government to ease the visa process for Bangladesh nationals, especially students.
The issue came up for discussions when State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam had a meeting with Deputy Minister for Economic Development of Poland Radosław Domagalski-Łabędzki on Monday night at Hotel Sonargaon in the city.
The Polish Minister, now on a two-day visit, is leading a six-member delegation, according to the Foreign Ministry here.
During the meeting, the State Minister apprised the Polish Minister about the economic progress, higher growth rate, various initiatives taken by the government of Bangladesh for poverty eradication and social inclusion in Bangladesh.
The Polish Deputy Minister put emphasis on regular Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh and Poland.
He informed the meeting that the investors of Poland are interested to invest in food, agro-processing and coal industries in Bangladesh.
The special economic zones established in Bangladesh is a positive step to the foreign investors to come here with business initiatives, the visiting minister added.
