Govt to recruit adviser for Airport-Ashulia EPZ flyover project
Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said an agreement to recruit an advisor for the Airport-Ashulia EPZ flyover project will be signed on Wednesday, reports UNB.
He said this while talking to reporters after inspection of the road repair works at Jamgara of Ashulia area in Savar on the outskirts of the capital.
The minister said that total cost of the 42km flyover will be Tk 12,000 crore.
The adviser’s responsibility will be to conduct a feasibility study, after which the government will decide how to finance the project— whether to float a tender for constructing the flyover, or go for a government-to-government process, or for a public-private partnership (PPP).
The minister also added that an order has been issued asking all the illegal occupants beside all the roads and highways in the country to remove their unlawful establishments by 15 March.
Failure to do so will result in strict legal action, regardless of how influential or powerful they may be.
He informed that illegal establishments are among the major causes of traffic jams and road accidents on the highways.
