Dhaka: Ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections, former Kurigram Awami League leader Maj Gen (retd) AMSA Amin joined Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gano Forum on Saturday.

He joined Gano Forum, a key component of one of BNP’s alliances Jatiya Oikyafront, at a programme at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel chamber around 1pm.

Dr Kamal Hossain welcomed Amin, Gano Forum media wing member Latiful Bari Hamim said.

Senior Gano Forum leaders, including its executive president Subrta Chowdhury and general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu, and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya leader Sultan Mohammad Mansur were, among others, present.

Amin contested the 2001 election with Awami League ticket from Kurigram-2 constituency but could not come out successful.

On Nov 19, ten retired defence officers formally joined Gano Forum.

Earlier, Reza Kibria, son of slain former Awami League Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria, joined the party and submitted its nomination paper to Dr Kamal on Sunday to contest the December 30 parliamentary polls under Jatiya Oikyafront from Habiganj-1 constituency.
