Dhaka: The ruling Awami League has cancelled the nominations for disaster management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and Mohammed Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan of Chandpur as both of them were found loan defaulters.

Nurul Amin Ruhul, vice-president of Dhaka city unit Awami League (south) has replaced Maya for Chandpur-2 constituency while Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, president of Jatiya Press Club, replaced Shamsul Haque for Chandpur-4, according to sources at the party office, reports the UNB.

The party handed over the nomination letters to the newly nominated candidates around 11:00pm on Tuesday.
