Deal signed to hire consultants for Padma Bridge component

Dhaka: The Bridges Division on Wednesday signed an agreement with a British firm to appoint consultants for the management support consultancy service of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project.
Padma Bridge project director Shafiqul Islam and Vardaman Jones, director of High Point Rendel, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at the Setu Bhaban in the capital, reported UNB.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Bridges Division Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam were, among others, present on the occasion.
Talking to reporters, Quader said 31 percent progress has already been made on the work on the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project.
The Bridges Division also inked an agreement with SMEC International Pty Ltd, Australia, to hire consultants for conducting feasibility studies on proposed Dhaka-Ashulia elevated expressway and East-West Elevated Expressway projects.
