Hill slide halts Sylhet rail links with Dhaka, Ctg

Sylhet: The rail communication of Sylhet with rest of the country cut off after a hill slide caused cracks in a rail bridge in Maulvibazar early on Thursday.
The bridge is located in between Srimangal and Bhanugach railway station.
Srimangal Railway Station assistant station manager Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain said the rail communication of Dhaka-Sylhet and Chittagong-Sylhet routes were snapped at about 4:00am.
The railway authorities have started clearing the soil and repairing the cracks on the rail bridge, said the assistant station manager.
However, he added, the rail communication will be resumed at about 6:00pm.
Jayantika Express at Shamshernagar Station and several trains at neighbouring stations remain stranded following the incident.
