Sirajganj: Two brothers, who were injured being beaten by their rivals on Friday following dispute over land at Kodalia village in Chauhali upazila, died on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Kawsar Hossain, 23, and Milton Hossain, 30, sons of Antaj Ali of the village.

Uncle of the deceased Joynal Abedin said the duo had long been at loggerheads with their maternal uncle Rafikul Islam Bakul over a piece of land, reports the UNB.

As a sequel to the enmity, Rafikul along with his men beat up Kawsar and Milton with sticks at his (Rafiqul) house on Friday evening, leaving both of them critically injured.

Kawsar died on way to Tangail General Hospital. Milton was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 1 pm on Saturday.

Officer-in-charge of Chauhali Police Station Jahangir Alam said police arrested Rafiqul’s wife Shirin Sultana, a UP member, over the incident after mother of the deceased filed a case with the police station accusing five people.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused, added the OC.
