Bagerhat Jamaat ameer among 6 held

Bagerhat: Police arrested six Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists, including its district unit ameer, from Chitli Boitpur area in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The arrestees are Maolana Rejaul Karim, the ameer of Bagerhat district unit Jamaat and Jamaat activists Emad Uddin, Mizanur Rahman, Maniruzzaman, Sagiruddin and Badaruddin, hailing from different places in the district, reports the UNB.
On information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them along with five crude bombs and locally made sharp weapons, said Bagerhat Police Supper Pankaj Chandra Ray.
The arrestees were planning to carry out subversive acts in the area ahead of national election scheduled to be held on December 30, added the SP.
