Govt declares December 30 general holiday

Dhaka: The government has declared December 30 as a general holiday across the country to facilitate proper holding of the 11thparliamentary elections on the day.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Thursday as per the request of the Election Commission, reports the UNB.
The holiday has been announced so that all voters working in government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices, insinuations, organisations and educational institutions situated in the areas concerned can cast their votes and those to be engaged in the election process can perform their duties.
On December 18, the Election Commission (EC) directed the Public Administration Ministry to declare December 30 as a general holiday for the 11th parliamentary elections.
A letter signed by the EC Joint Secretary Farhad Ahmmed Khan was sent to the Public Administration secretary on Tuesday in this regard.
