Noakhali: Police on Saturday night arrested another accused of a case filed in connection with the gang-rape of a woman in Subarnachar upazila in the early hours of December 31.

The accused Salauddin, 35, son of Tukai Miah, was arrested from a brick field in Feni sadar upazila’s Sultanpur village. He was no. 9 accused of the rape case filed with Charjabbar Police Station, reports the UNB.

Ilius Sharif, superintendent of Noakhali Police, said that a team of police raided the brick field at night and arrested Salauddin.

With this latest development, a total of eight culprits have so far been arrested in the case, said the SP.

The woman, a mother of four, was gang-raped at Charjubli village in the upazila on December 31 by a gang of 10-12 men allegedly being ordered by Ruhul Amin, former member of Charjubli union parishad and also the organizing secretary of union unit of Awami League, after the general election.

Later, doctors treating the woman have found evidence of gang rape.
