Shariatpur: Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Dehobhog area of Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Russel and Jahangir, reports the UNB.

Police said on information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation for committing robbery, a team of police conducted a drive in the area.

Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire on police, prompting them to fire back, triggering the gunfight, leaving the duo injured with bullet.

The injured were taken to Sadar Upazila health complex where doctors declared them  dead.

Three policemen were also injured in the district.
