Patuakhali: An alleged criminal was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Hetaliya Kalikapur area of Patuakhali on early Monday, reports UNB.

Members of RAB-8 at a press briefing said they arrested Mawla Mridha, 35, a listed criminal accused in several cases including murder case, during a drive in Hetaliya Badhghat area on Sunday night along with a shooter gun, ammunitions and 600 pieces of Yaba tablets.

Later, based on the information gleaned from the arrestee during the primary interrogation, the elite force members conducted another drive, taking Mrida with them, in the area to recover more arms.

Sensing the presence of the RAB personnel, Mridha’s accomplices opened fire at them, forcing the RAB team to fire back, triggering the ‘gunfight’ which left Mridha bullet hit and dead on the spot.
