Feni: A suspected robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of robbers in Betaga Project area in Chagalnaiya upazila early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin Sabuj alias Sabuj, son of Abdul Motaleb of Chagalnaiya municipality area, reports the UNB.

Being tipped off that two groups of robbers were exchanging gunfire in the area, a team of police went to the spot, said MM Murshed, officer-in-charge of Chagalnaiya Police Station.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers managed to flee the scene.

Police recovered the body of Sabuj and arrested two other bullet injured robbers while they were trying to flee the scene.

The injured robbers — Palash and Faruk — were taken to Feni Sadar Hospital.

The deceased Sabuj was a member of an inter-district robber gang and also a listed criminal. He was wanted in eight several cases, said the OC.

Police also recovered one gun, five bullets, seven sharp weapons and one screw driver from the spot.
