BNP plunged into deep ditch of negative politics: Quader
Dhaka: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday alleged that BNP leaders are making unguarded remarks about the 11th parliamentary election as the party has fallen into a deep ditch of negative politics.
‘BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront leaders are making abortive efforts to make the election controversial. In fact, BNP has plunged into a deep ditch of negative politics,’ he said, reports the UNB.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, further said, ‘They (BNP leaders) are making various remarks on the elections as they wish since they’ve got desperate out of their failures.’
He came up with the remarks while inaugurating the sale of nomination papers among party aspirants for the first-phase Upazila Parishad elections at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office.
Quader said there are controversies both at home and abroad over the national election while the leaders of the civilised and democratic countries greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the massive victory.
He said the United Nations expressed its willingness to work together with the government. ‘So, there’s no controversy and question anywhere over the election.’
He said their local government election steering committee will announce the names of the AL nominated candidates on February 8.
According to the Election Commission (EC), elections to 87 upazila parishads will be held on March 10 in the first phase.
