Jhenidah: Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested an outlawed party leader carrying a sub-machine gun and ammunition in Bashpur village of Shailkupa in Jhenaidah on early Tuesday.

Commanding officer of RAB-6 of Jhenidah Major M Suruj Ali said being tipped off that Biplabi Communist Party leader Badsha Laskar, 47, was staying at the house of Milon Laskar, a team of the elite force conducted a drive there at about 3:15am.

During the drive, the RAB personnel arrested Badsha and recovered a sub‑machine gun, a double barrel shot gun, 118 bullets and a magazine.

Later, a case was filed with Shailkupa Police Station under Arms Act.
