BNP gets weaker for its negative politics: Quader
Dhaka: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said BNP is getting weaker day by day due to banking on negative politics.
“Strong opposition in parliament is vital for strengthening democracy. We do not want BNP to become weaker but we have nothing to do if the party gets weaker due to its negative politics,” he told a function at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office here.
In the function, the AL general secretary announced names of 87 nominees of the party for chairman post to contest the first phase of upazila parishad election slated for March 10.
Though BNP has announced to not join the upcoming polls, “We came to know that many BNP leaders will take part in the polls as independent candidates,” he said.
Quader said the party has kept open the vice-chairman and woman vice-chairman (reserved) posts for all as per the decision of AL local government nomination board.
AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan and Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap were present, among others.
