Manikganj: Legal action will be taken against the two police officers if they are found guilty of gang-raping a young woman after keeping her confined to Saturia Duck-bungalow, said Superintendent of Police Rifat Rahman Shamim on Monday.

‘The two-member probe body formed to look into the incident has started its work ... legal action will be taken against them if the two police officers are found guilty,’ he said while talking to reporters, reports the UNB.

The SP said the committee members have already talked to the victim and others involved in the incident. ‘The probe body has been asked to submit its report as soon as possible and there’s no scope to spare anyone if found guilty.’

The probe panel was constituted with Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizur Rahman of Sadar Circle and Senior Assistant Superintendent of District Special Branch Hamidur Rahman Siddique,

Sub-inspector Sekandar Hossain and assistant sub-inspector Mazharul Islam of Saturia Police Station were withdrawn on charge of gang-raping the young woman after keeping her confined to Saturia Duck-bungalow here.

The victim lodged a written complaint with the police super on Sunday. As per the complaint, Sekandar took her to the Duck-bungalow when she came to the upazila headquarters along with another woman on Thursday afternoon.

He kept her confined to a room and forced her to take Yaba pills.

Later, Sekandar and Mazharul raped her in turns and released her on Friday morning, threatening to kill her on crossfire if she discloses the matter to anyone.
