Govt to bear medical expenses of wounded Panchagarh priest: health minister
Dhaka: The government will bear all the medical expenses of Sri Sri Gaurio Temple priest Gopal Roy who was recently shot by miscreants in Panchagarh’s Debiganj, BSS reports quoting the Health Minister and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim.
Nasim announced this while visiting injured Gopal Roy at the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases on Tuesday afternoon.
In the morning of February 21 (Sunday), a gang of miscreants chopped off priest Joggeshwar Roy inside Sonto Gaurio temple.
At that time, the miscreants opened fire upon Gopal Roy who suffered two bullet wounds near to his left elbow. After the incident, he was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The next day on February 22, Gopal was sent to the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases in the capital on an ambulance.
In connection with the incident, three members of JMB and Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested earlier. One of them confessed his link in the murder on Tuesday.
Earlier, Orthopedics Department of Rangpur Medical College constituted a four-member medical board for treatment of Gopal Roy at Rangpur Medical College Hospital for his better treatment.
