CJ for allowing journalists at courtroom
Dhaka: Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Wednesday underscored the need for allowing journalists to be at the courtroom for transparency of the judiciary.
He came up with the remark after inaugurating the office of Law Reporters’ Forum (LRF) at the Supreme Court Bar Association Bhaban, reports the UNB.
Sharing his experience gathered in a seminar on journalism on court premises in Turkey, the Chief Justice said, ‘…there was a topic on allowing journalists at courtroom for transparency of the judiciary. So, it’s now internationally established that the entry of journalists into courtroom and court premises will have to be ensured.’
Pointing to LRF members, the CJ said, ‘I’m so pleased to see that you’ve got a place to sit in.’
The Chief Justice also unveiled the cover of the annual publication of the forum.
