Sangsad Bhaban: The Representation of the People
(Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended form in order to make the participation in the national parliament elections widespread and easier as well as expedite the elections operation.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haq moved the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad which was unanimously passed by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, reports the BSS.
Piloting the bill, the minister said the proposed bill will replace and amended the Representation of the People Order, 1972.
Earlier, the parliamentary body has recommended the bill unanimously to pass in the Jatiya Sangsad.
