Petrol bomb victim taxi driver dies

Chittagong: A taxi driver, who sustained burn injuries in an arson attack on his vehicle at Hathazari in Chittagong on 4 March, died undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday morning.  

The victim is Saber Ahmed, 28, died at about 8:00am.

CMCH burn unit doctor Mohammad Khaled said taxi driver Saber and a passenger were burnt as miscreants hurled fire bomb at a CNG-run auto rickshaw at Charia area of Hathazari at about 10:30pm.

The injured passenger, Ranjit, died undergoing treatment at CMCH on the following day.

Chittagong assistant police superintendent Naim Hassan said police arrested two local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders Kamal Hossain and Iqbal Hossain in a case filed for hurling petrol bombs.

The detainee confessed their involvement while giving deposition at a court on Monday.
