Describing the March 7, 1971 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as one of the best speeches in the world, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘The speech is still an inspiration for the freedom-loving people.’

‘Every word, every sentence of the speech inspires us afresh— the March 7, 1971 speech of Father of the Nation is a never ending appeal. The speech will give inspiration to the freedom loving people across the globe,’ she said at a discussion organized by Bangladesh Awami League on the occasion of March 7 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here, reports the BSS.

‘People who have already achieved freedom can also get inspiration from the speech to make themselves patriot, ideal in politics and to get prepared for making the highest sacrifice for the country,’ she said.

Sheikh Hasina, elder daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said, ‘The historic March 7, 1971 speech is not a mere one. Through this speech, he (Bangabandhu) gave the formula of a guerrilla war and the framework of future Bangladesh—.’

‘He (Bangabandhu) gave the speech on his own. There were no notes on his hands. Putting out his eyeglasses, he had started delivering the speech before hundreds of people who came from across the country to hear the speech,’ she said.

Recalling her mother Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa’s role in this respect, the premier said, ‘Many people would say many things—no need to hear anything from anyone. You would speak whatever comes to your mind and that would be the truth for the countrymen.’

Among other, AL Presidium Member and the Deputy Leader of the House Sajeda Chowdhury, Advisory Council Members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Science and Technology Minister Yafes Osman, freedom fighter Sazzad Zahir, AL Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman, and Organising Secretary Bahauddin Nasim, also spoke on the occasion.

Information Minister and also the Publicity and Publication Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud with the help of its Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam moderated the discussion.
