Dhaka: The government is planning to build multipurpose halls at the upazila-level to develop cultural practices at grassroots, said State Minister for Culture KM Khalid on Friday.

‘We also plan to build Rabindra Research Institute. The construction of new building of Nazrul Institute in Dhaka will start soon after the completion of all the process,’ he said at the inauguration of two-day ‘ICBM Fair 2019’.

The fair has been organised by International Center for Bengal Music (ICBM) on the Bangla Academy premises, reports the UNB.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was present as the programme’s chief guest while National Professor Rafiqul Islam delivered his speech as the special guest. ICBM Chairman and DU Associate Professor Leena Tapashi Khan delivered the welcome speech.

Prof Akhteruzzaman hoped ICBM will serve as a catalyst for reaching the technical aspects of the academic degree and the higher level of different university’s music departments.

ICBM Secretary General Shakilur Rahman Sohag delivered the thanksgiving speech.

Later, the state minister formally inaugurated the ICBM website, CD, Journal and Documentary.
