Govt bans local ads on downlinked foreign TV channels
Dhaka: The government has slapped a ban on airing local advertisements on downlinked foreign television channels.
A PID handout said the Information Ministry issued an order on Wednesday in this regard. It said the ban has been imposed as per section 19(13) of the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act 2006.
It prohibits airing advertisements on foreign channels targeting Bangladeshi audience, reports the UNB.
If any Bangladeshi TVC [television commercials] is aired on a foreign channel, then it would be a violation of section 11 of the Act.
The distribution license will be made invalid and/or suspended. The violator will be punished as per section 28, the handout pointed out.
