Raushon gets official recognition as deputy opposition leader
Dhaka: Jatiya party senior cochairman Raushon Ershad has got the official recognition as deputy leader of the opposition in parliament.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury gave the recognition on Sunday following a letter sent to her on March 23 by leader of the opposition in parliament HM Ershad to take steps in this regard, said a gazette notification issued by the Parliament Secretariat, reports the UNB.
On Saturday, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad and leader of the opposition in parliament HM Ershad removed his brother GM Quader from the post of deputy opposition leader and replaced him with Raushon.
The maverick former military strongman, known for frequently changing his decisions, sacked his brother from the party post of cochairman on Friday.
On January 4, Ershad had nominated his brother as the deputy leader of the opposition in parliament.
Raushon, the party’s senior cochairman, was the opposition leader in 10th parliament.
