Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon on Saturday directed the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence to ascertain whether the recent incidents of fire were acts of sabotage.

He came up with the directive at a discussion programme on safe chemical management at DCCI auditorium, reports the UNB.

Sayeed Khokon suggested the businesspeople to remain alert whether anyone is staging such incidents following their misunderstanding or infighting.

Supporting the proposal of the business community to establish a new fire station in at Babu Bazar in Old Dhaka to reach fire spots quickly, the mayor urged the Fire Brigade Director General to take necessary measures in this regard.

Mentioning the contribution s of Old Dhaka businessmen in the national economy, Sayeed Khokon said, ‘It'll be monitored so that traders can operate their businesses without any hazard. We must remain alert. No business will be allowed at the cost of human lives.’
