Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Tasveer around 10:45 pm, said Shahjahan Saju, additional deputy commissioner of DB (North), reports the UNB.

The detainee claimed that he is the owner of the top three floors (20th, 21st and 22nd) of the building, the police official said.

According to reports, Tasveer illegally built three storeys on top of the 18-storey FR Tower during BNP-Jamaat's rule from 2001-2006.

Earlier at noon, sub-inspector Milton Dutta of Banani Police Station filed a case accusing land owner SMHI Faruk, 65, Rupayan Group chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, 57, Quasem Drycell Limited managing director Tasveer Ul Islam, 62, FR Tower management committee members and several others, over Thursday’s fire incident, said additional deputy commissioner (media) Obaidur.

Meanwhile, a number of probe bodies have been formed to investigate the devastating fire incident that left 26 people dead and many more injured.
