Tangail: Police on Saturday arrested a man from Indrajani village in Sakhipur upazila in a case filed for violating a six-year-old girl. 

The detainee Dulal Sikhdar, 35, son of late Hazarat Ali of the village, was sent to jail after being produced before a court here, said Amir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sakhipur Police Station, reports the UNB.

Family members said the girl went to play at Dulal’s house on Wednesday noon. Taking advantage of the empty house, Dulal took the girl inside the house alluring her to give a chocolate and violated her. The culprit also tortured the girl inhumanly, they said.

The victim has been undergoing treatment at Tangail General Hospital, they added.

Later on Friday night, the victim’s mother filed a case with the police station under Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act.
