Dhaka: Law Minister Anisul Huq on Wednesday said his ministry will assist housing ministry for swiftly resolving cases related to illegal buildings in the capital.

‘I’ve told the housing minister that we’ll provide assistance for quick disposal of cases whenever necessary,’ he said Wednesday at the Secretariat, reports the UNB.

Capital’s development authority Rajuk is collecting information about buildings after a deadly fire at Banani’s FR Tower killed 26 people last week.

Housing Minister SM Rezaul Karim told UNB that about 66 percent buildings in Dhaka and its adjoining areas under Rajuk’s jurisdiction have been constructed in an unplanned way.

‘Some don’t have approval while some others flouted approved designs,’ he said.

Responding to another question, Minister Huq said they were considering disposing negotiable cases through settlement and negotiation.
