Feni: A primary school headmaster in Dagonbhuiyan Upazila is facing charges of sexually abusing a minor after reportedly impregnating a 12-year-old girl.

Abdul Karim, the headmaster of Khushipur Government Primary School, was arrested on Thursday night from his residence at Khushipur village, reports the UNB.

The fifth grader was found pregnant after she was taken to a hospital. She told her relatives that the headmaster had sexually abused her.

A number of locals tried to broker a deal between the girl’s family and the headmaster. But police intervened when they learned about the incident.

Police spoke with the victim around 10:30pm before arresting Karim.

Abu Saleh, officer-in-charge of Dagonbhuiyan Police Station, said they were investigating the matter.
