Brahmanbaria: A member of village police was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Ashuganj upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Bhanu Chandra Das, 35, son of Hari Chandra Dash, a resident of Talshohor village, reports the UNB.

He worked as a member of village police of Talshohor Union Parishad.

The incident took place on Talshohor-Bahadurpur Road.

Criminals shot Bhanu when he was returning after refuelling the vehicle of upazila Vice-Chairman Amir Hossain around 10:3am, killing him on the spot, said Masud Alam, officer-in-charge of Ashuganj Police Station.
