Dhaka: A light rain with hail drenched the capital on Monday afternoon, offering city dwellers relief from sweltering heat.

The Met office recorded 3 millimeters of rainfall until 3pm, said meteorologist Abdur Rahman. 

‘It’s because of the influence of the nor’wester,’ he said. The rain started around 3pm.

A low lies over West Bengal to Northeast Bay across Bangladesh, reports the UNB.

The Met office said rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind, are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet division.

It has also forecast moderately heavy to heavy rainfalls and isolated hails at places across Bangladesh.
