Feni: Awami League on Thursday expelled its general secretary of Kazirbag union unit and union parishad chairman Kazi Bulbul Sohag for assisting madrasa principal Sirajuddoula in a case filed for sexually assaulting Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Awami League president of Feni district unit Abdur Rahaman said Bulbul, who is also an advocate, stood for key accused Principal Sirajuddoula of Sonagazi Senior Fazil Madrasa in the case, reports the UNB.

Following the directive of the party’s central committee Bulbul was expelled for violating party’s rules, he said.

After fighting for her life for five days, madrasa girl Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday night.

On April 6, Rafi was set afire in the examination centre of Alim examination allegedly by students loyal to Principal Sirajuddoula of Sonagazi Senior Fazil Madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as Rafi had accused him of sexually harassing her.
