Dhaka: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud here today said the remarks of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) over the first 100 days of the current government are totally unexpected and unacceptable.

‘After the passage of 100 days of the government, the CPD gave its reaction, which was unexpected and unacceptable. It has been looking for the faults of the government over the last 10 years as per its nature,’ he said while talking to reporters at Jatiya press Club in the capital, reports the UNB.

The information minister said the purchasing capacity of the country’s people has become double, but it is a matter of regret that the CPD has been looking for the loopholes of the government over the last 10 years.

‘They (CPD) also try to find out faults of the government before and after each national budget. Now question arises, does the CPD work only to look for others’ faults?’ he questioned.

Hasan, also Awami League publicity and publication secretary, said Bangladesh has achieved a tremendous progress in the last 10 years.

Noting that per capita income of people increased three times during the period, he said 10 years ago, the per capita income of per person was only US$ 600 which now stands at US$ 2,000.

The minister said the country is going ahead under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the entire world is lauding her leadership.

‘The government carried out many development works in the country, particularly in economic sector, in its first 100 days. But, CPD did not see those. It is their failure….we hope that CPD will see the progress and development of the government, overcoming its failure,’ he said.

About BNP’s stance not to join the parliament, Hasan said despite being elected in the last general elections, BNP has decided not to take oath and not to join the parliament, which is negligence to the people as well as the state.

‘It is a part of a mega plot to make Bangladesh’s democracy questionable. BNP joined the last parliamentary elections aiming to make the polls questionable….now BNP has decided not to join the House, which is also a plot to make democracy of the country questionable and impede its advancement,’ he said.

AL leader also asserted that the pace of democracy of the country will continue in the days to come.
