Two ‘Robbers’ killed in Kutubdia ‘gunfight’
Cox’s Bazar: Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Lemshikhali Darbar Ghat in Kutubdia upazila early Friday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, reports the UNB.
Didarul Ferdous, officer-in-charge of Kutubdia Police Station, said acting on an information that two groups of robbers were exchanging bullet, a team of police went to the spot around 3:30am.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on police, prompting them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.
Later, police rescued two people injured with bullets and took them to a local hospital where doctors declared them dead.
Two policemen were injured during the gunfight.
Police recovered one LG gun and two cartridges from the spot.
