Sherpur: A 19-year-old was arrested on Sunday for kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old schoolgirl in Nakla upazila.

Sohel Miah, the arrestee, is the son of Md Abdul Jalil Miah and a resident of Bagrakanda village.

‘Sohel stalked the eighth grader,’ said Md Shahnewar, officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station. ‘He abducted her on April 10 when the victim was going to school.’

Later, the girl’s father filed a case.

Police raided the house in the early morning and rescued the girl and arrested Sohel, the OC said.

The victim was sent to the civil surgeon’s office for medical test.
