Barishal: Barishal University’s vice-chancellor Prof  Dr SM Imamul Haque has been sent on a 46-day leave amid protests by students and teachers on the campus.

An order issued Monday said the President, the university’s chancellor, granted the leave from April 11 to May 26 for personal and administrative purposes, reports the UNB. 

Treasurer Professor Dr AKM Mahbub Hasan will discharge routine duties of the VC during this period, said the order issued with the President’s approval.

Dr Haque allegedly used slang against students who were protesting because they were not informed about the arrangements of Independence Day. This triggered a movement which has been going on for the last 35 days demanding his resignation.
