Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested a dismissed policeman reportedly along with 10,100 Yaba pills from Arambagh in the city on Tuesday night.

The arrestee was identified as Mahfuzur Rahman, a dismissed police constable.

Tipped off, a team of the elite force raided a ‘Desh Travels’ bus coming from Cox’s Bazar when it stopped at Arambagh around 10pm, said sources at the Rab-2 battalion headquarters, reports the UNB.

At one stage of search, Company Commander of Rab-2 Mohiuddin Farooqi challenged Mahfuzur, who was sitting on B-2 seat wearing ASI uniform.

Searching his bag, the Rab members recovered 10,100 contraband Yaba tablets and Tk 31,800 in cash, said ASP Saiful Malik, operation officer of the Rab-2.

During interrogation, Mahfuzur revealed that he is a dismissed police constable.

He joined Bangladesh Police in 2011 and he was sent to jail for committing serious offence when he was posted in Khulna Metropolitan Police. He got involved in drug trading after his release from jail.
