UGC accords reception to 71 authors
Dhaka: University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday accorded a reception to seventy one authors of books published by UGC at its auditorium in Dhaka.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid joined the reception ceremony as the chief guest with UGC Chairman Abdul Mannan in the chair.
Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Mohammad Farashuddin, Chief Information Commissioner Golam Rahman, Planning Commission Member Abdul Mannan and former UGC Chairman Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion, among others.
Nahid urged the educationists to write more books at tertiary level in easy, simple and lucid language.
He appealed the authors to translate the textbooks written in foreign languages into Bangla in the greater interest of the country’s students at tertiary level.
He observed that the tradition for writing books should be maintained in future and added books need to be read to a great extent for acquiring knowledge. More and more research has to be carried out for writing books, he added.
