A minor girl has reportedly been raped in Munshiganj while ‘rape attempt’ made on two minor sisters in Narayanganj amid surge in rape incidents across the country.

Besides, a case has been filed against four people on charge of sexually harassing three college girls in Moulvibazar district, reports the UNB.
In Munshiganj, a seven-year-old girl was ‘raped by her landlord’s son’ at Kumarbhogh village in Lohajang upazila on Tuesday.

Quoting locals, Md Monir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Lohajang Police Station, said victim’s family resides in a house of Karam Bapari paying rent.

Karam’s son Billal Hossain, 38, went to their house in the evening and raped the girl as she was alone there.

Hearing her screams, locals rescued the girl and caught Billal. Later, he was handed over to police, the OC said.

In Narayanganj, police arrested a man on Tuesday noon for reportedly trying to violate two minor sisters in Siddhirganj.

The arrestee was identified as Reaz Ali, 38, son of Belayet Ali of Rangabali upazila in Patuakhali district.

Sub-inspector (SI) HM Jasim Uddin of Siddhirganj Police Station said Reaz lured the girls—one aged 10 and the other 9 -- into going to his house on May 8, 9 and 10 when their parents, who are garment workers, were at workplace.

He tried to violate them after showing them adult clips on his mobile phone, the SI said.

Meanwhile, the girls informed the matter to their parents and their mother filed a case with Siddhirganj Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Later, police arrested Reaz Ali, the SI added.

In Moulvibazar, a case was filed against four people on Monday night for ‘sexually harassing’ three college girls at Sonapur Borobari of Moulvibazar municipality.

Sumon Kanti Deb, a teacher of Kashinath Alauddin School and College and a relative of two victims, filed the case with Sadar Police Station.

According to the case statement, three students of Moulvibazar Govt Women College live at a flat of one Shafiqur Rahman Shafique at Sonapur Borobari.

Naved, 18, Sayem, 24, Munna, 22, and Lokman, 24, used to harass them on their way to and from college.

On Monday, Naved, also landlord’s nephew, along with four others sexually abused one of the victims at the courtyard of their house upon her return from college after appearing at an in-course examination.

As the two other girls came out of the house and protested the incident, the stalkers got angered and they manhandled them.

One of the victims informed the matter to her cousin Sumon Kanti Deb who along with some of his colleagues rushed in and sought explanation from house owner Shafiqur.

However, Naved and others abused them and threatened them with dire consequences if they approach law enforcers.

Later, Sumon took the girls to Sadar Hospital and filed a case with Sadar Police Station.
