Two soldiers killed in Bandarban blast
Bandarban: Two soldiers were killed and 10 wounded in a blast at a heavy weapons firing range in the Sadar upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased were named as Jahidul Islam, 28, a resident of Lama upazila, and Nipun Chakma, 30. The wounded were taken to Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH), reports the UNB.
All of them are members of Comilla Cantonment's 16-Para Battalion.
Bandarban's police chief Zakir Hossain Majumder said the army was schedule to hold a firing practice at Amtoli on Saturday afternoon.
The soldiers were clearing the bushes when an abandon shell exploded around 10:20am, killing Jahidul on the spot and injuring 11 others, he said.
Nipun died while being taken to the CMH.
