Parliamentary body for exporting female labour for newer jobs
Dhaka: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry on Thursday suggested the government export female workers as skilled labour, not just ‘as domestic help’.
It asked the government to export female workers for respectable professions after providing them with proper training.
The parliamentary committee came up with the recommendation at its 11th meeting, presided over by its chairman Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the Jatiya Sangsad, said a Parliamentary Secretariat handout.
The committee also suggested the government form a specialized insurance company for ensuring insurance facilities for Bangladeshi economic migrants abroad.
Committee members Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, Shahab Uddin, Israfil Alam, Ayeen Uddin and Mahjabeen Khaled attended the meeting.
